coding journey

this is my story.

(interspersed with pictures of my interests)

somewhat unconventional but that's life sometimes!

camping is my chicken soup for the soul

my background prior to coding.

i've spent the first decade of my career crafting stories (strategy) around data (analytics) & executing said strategies.

started with building forecasting models in excel (occasionally hitting the 1.048M rows limit 😅) to then wearing multiple hats growing a 30-team startup leading to a $1.2B exit.

boxing is the ultimate stress reliever

why i started coding.

this journey really began when i started to feel my technical limits in guiding my analytics team. i went through a data science bootcamp (dataquest) in order to have intelligible discussions with my team.

felt amazing to just learn again & add more tools to my toolbox.

then the pandemic hit.

and like many others, it gave me the space and time to do a lot of soul searching.

i've always had a nagging curiosity (& a little envy) of those that build & figured now's a good a time to start.

i'm a strong believer that the best way to learn is to do. so i decided to start small, using a no-code platform (webflow) to learn the basics of HTML and CSS.

the spark of joy.

the real spark of joy came when i built my first webapp.

there's something just so magically about writing code that turns into a product that i can directly interact with, even the many cycles of debugging and frustrations along the way.

what's next?

over the past year, i've spent my waking hours learning and building across the web stack.

throughout that time, i've been building web apps that i personally use on a daily basis (listed under projects on the homepage).

& after dedicating my time honing the craft, i'm ready to make this my career.
